چکیده

We developed a new method of determining site response and amplification for use in hazard analysis and station corrections. The method employs the conversion of P to S energy beneath a soft-rock station, which results in complex receiver functions that are frequency and amplitude dependent. At low frequencies ( 0.1 Hz), the ratio of vertical to radial energies for Pnl appear uniform across the TriNet array, where shallow structures can be neglected. Ratios of high-frequency energies ( 0.5 Hz) can be normalized to these low-frequency levels to quantify the amount of high-frequency amplification. Our results agree with previous studies of the Los Angeles Basin and provide the means of calibrating station responses at high frequencies.

Seismic Behavior of 2D Semi-Sine Shaped Hills against Vertically Propagating Incident Waves

This paper presents the preliminary results of an extensive parametric study on seismic response of two-dimensional semi-sine shaped hills to vertically propagating incident P- and SV-waves. Clear perspectives of the induced diffraction and amplification patterns are given by investigation of time-domain and frequency-domain responses. It is shown that site geometry, wave characteristics , and ...

Jointed Rock Mass Effects on the Seismic Waves Scattering from the Canyon Sites in the Dam's Support

Seismic study of canyon sites has always been one of the important fields of seismic studies because of massive structures such as dams that are built in such sites. Jointed rock mass in rock canyon sites is one of the main site effects that can change the seismic waves. In this research, we studied the influence of this factor on the scattering of seismic waves. To fulfil this goal, we employe...
